The Great Hall
| A focal point
for the house, this was the centre for receptions and meeting the
larger entertainment needs of the family. The English oak joinery
was the work of Green and Abbott of London. |
 |
| Officials on their
travels used this 17th century Spanish or Portuguese pappeleria
to house documents and important papers. Beautifully inlaid and
decorated with stained bone and ivory, its main benefit, believe
it or not, was its relative portability. |
